SKILL LEVELS: THE CAROUSEL METHOD

Almost nothing can make or break your camp experience like being on the right court for your skill level. This is why we invented the Carousel Method to ensure you always have level-appropriate drill partners.

Based on your DUPR and visual assessment, we group you with 4-8 players within .25 of your skill level. Then, every 15-30 minutes you rotate drill partners within your group, ensuring that meet 6-8 new players in a day and that every partnership is competitive and enjoyable. If you prefer to play with partners of a certain gender or age range, we also take that into consideration when forming your group.

At our last destination camp in Baja, we welcomed players ranging from 3.0 to 5.2—with an even 50/50 split below and above 4.0. Despite this range, Jilly's coaching philosophy remains consistent: she teaches every player like they're capable of reaching 5.0+. Concepts are never dumbed down based on skill level. While drills are adapted to each group's abilities, the language, themes, and strategic concepts remain the same across all courts. A 3.0 hears the same high-level instruction as a 5.0—because every player deserves to learn the game the right way from day one.

A PERSONAL NOTE ON LOS BARRILES, MX

Hi there, it's Jilly B :)

Four years ago I made a phone call that changed my and hundreds of my students' lives. "Are you sure it's safe?" I asked Paul Bland, the owner of Tres Palapas Pickleball resort in Los Barriles ("LB"). "Yes!" he exclaimed. "It's like Southern California in the 1960's--you're going to LOVE it here! Cowboy meets sleepy beach town meets pickleball paradise!"

He was right. I fell HARD for this tiny rustic pickleball mecca just one hour north of Cabo airport. I believe that places have energies, and the energy of LB is the kind that changes your heart rate variability for the better. Time plays tricks on you when you're in LB. It feels like it stops. The town has a magical way of transporting you to an era when life maybe wasn't so difficult. A time when you didn't use AI or check your phone every thirty seconds or get notifications about the latest geopolitical calamity. LB just has this way of making life feel so present, so real, so precious. Every year I don't know if the camp really happened or if I dreamt it.

The food--oh my goodness the food cannot be beat! So fresh, clean, and colorful. Just like the ocean, where you will find deep hues of blue and dark emerald greens only matched by the diverse and beautiful fish that swim in them. (I LOVE snorkeling in Los Barriles--you can snorkel from just about any spot on the plentiful white sand beaches).

I know it's odd to say but I'm getting choked up thinking about this camp and trip. It means so much to me, I love this trip with all of my heart. And you will, too.

A PERSONAL NOTE ON TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

If you've gotten this far it means you're seriously considering one of my camps - thank you for that. I love teaching so much--even more than winning medals! Winning helps ME--and only me. But when I teach it helps YOU unlock your next level, increase your confidence and your joy factor. And you already know my motto: "pickleball is joy, don't let anyone tell you differently!"

If you come to one of my camps you'll see that you can improve while having a ton of fun - improvement shouldn't be hard. Pickleball shouldn't be hard. It's been sold to you that way but it's a lie.

My teaching method is a lot of "delete" the unnecessary, make things simple, find what makes you great and then double down on that. Because we all have natural advantages and strengths. There is no such thing as a bad pickleball player, just bad positions on the court.

Anyone, and I mean anyone can be great at pickleball--and that means you.

Each and every one of my camps is totally unique--which is why you don't see topics listed on the schedule. This makes my life hard but gives you the most up-to-date information available that I'm learning in real-time on the professional tour. Pickleball is changing rapidly. You need real-time dynamic instruction that reflects the state of the game. That's what I'm here to deliver to you. I hope to meet you in person soon!

Xoxo, Jilly B
